A people’s movement for digital India
Digital Citizens of India is a people’s collective. We help each other find the way through digital rights, online safety, digital literacy and a constructive civic voice – safely, confidently and together.
From the Citizens, to the Citizens
What we do
We run on trust, service, openness and civic discipline.
Plain-language explainers, Indian language translations, and free community clinics helping first-time internet users and family elders.
Demystifying the DPDP Act 2023, data protection, right to erasure, RTI in the digital sphere, and consumer grievance redressal.
Scam and fraud alerts, misinformation hygiene, emergency 1930 reporting channels, and step-by-step financial recovery playbooks.
Representations on digital policy and verified official letterhead for citizens to escalate unaddressed grievances to institutions.
Sound familiar?
“Papa got a call: your KYC has expired, share the OTP or your pension stops.”
A Digital Citizen’s father knows: no one genuine ever asks for an OTP. He hangs up, unshaken.
“A shocking video is racing through the family group. Everyone is forwarding it.”
A Digital Citizen checks the date and source in two minutes, and stops the rumour at their thumb.
“The refund is ‘in process’ for three months. Customer care has stopped replying.”
A Digital Citizen climbs the escalation ladder: reference number, nodal officer, ombudsman. Answered.
This is what we practise, teach and pass on. Start with a playbook

The Chakravyuha Story
The digital world can feel like a chakravyuha: a maze of scams, fake messages, confusing rules and traps.
Our logo tells the story: every ring has a passage, and there is always a way out. Digital Citizens of India is about standing at the centre together and walking each other to the exit.
01 · Real People, Real Names
Every citizen joins under their real, verified name. No fake accounts, no trolls hiding behind false names.
02 · Never Touches Money
No fees, no donations, no bank account. People give their time and skill, not money.
03 · Open to Every Citizen
Any adult Indian citizen can join. Your job, region, language or education does not matter.
04 · Consent Over Command
Decisions are made by agreement in small circles. Responsibilities are taken up as seva and passed on naturally.
05 · Open by Default
Meeting notes, letters and every supporter are published on our Openness page, for anyone to check.
06 · Above Party Politics
We speak only on digital issues, never for or against any political party.
Why join
WhatsApp and Telegram spaces where every person is a verified citizen under their real name. No trolls, no fake accounts.
Pick up small seva tasks, run workshops, carry a circle: you rise by contribution and trust, not connections.
Write to authorities on the collective’s letterhead, reviewed fairly and published openly for everyone to see.
A collective, not a service
No helpline, no office, no fees. Just citizens: learning together in real name communities, teaching their parents and neighbours, and writing to the right doors with one voice. Every Digital Citizen becomes the digitally confident person of their family, their street, their workplace.
Your journey here
No posts, no politics, no seniority games. You rise by contribution and trust: an article written, a workshop taken, a neighbour taught.
Join, get verified, and step into the communities from day one.
A few contributions in, your name is on the contributors page.
Carry a circle for a while: your city, your language, your theme.
Help steer the collective itself, with the trust of those serving.
Joining takes five minutes
Your name as on your voter ID, your state and district, and how to reach you.
A volunteer from your state verifies your name and citizenship with your voter ID.
The charter, your communities, and a warm welcome into the collective.
FAQ
Nothing, today and always. The collective never touches money: no fees, no donations, no bank account. No one is ever authorised to collect money in its name. People give time, skill and voice instead.
Any Indian citizen of 18 years or above, under their real name as it appears on their voter ID. There is no filter of profession, education, language or region and each person joins only once.
A volunteer verifies your name and citizenship with your voter ID when you join. That is all it is used for.
The collective is above party politics by its founding principles. It speaks on digital issues, never for or against any party or candidate. Digital Citizens are fully free in their personal politics outside the collective’s spaces.
It is a people’s collective: a body of citizens, not a body of paperwork. It is not a company, society or any such formal body and it does not need to be one to do its work. The full picture is in our charter.
Be one of the citizens who makes it: confident, prepared and heard.
Everything we do is free and no one is ever authorised to collect money in our name.
